Nick Pietras has been coaching lacrosse in the city of Detroit since 2019. Unterstein was also a member of the gold-medal winning United States Men’s National Team that competed in the 2018 FIL World Championships in Israel. He finished his career with 144 games played, 31 goals, and 297 groundballs. He would be traded to the Redwoods in the middle of his third season with the Atlas. Unterstein would transition over to the PLL following the 2018 season where he became a member of the newly founded Atlas. He was named to the MLL All-Star team during the 2014 season and won an MLL championship with the Lizards. Unterstein played for the Pride, New York Lizards, and Denver Outlaws over the course of eleven years in the MLL tallying up 248 groundballs and 89 caused-turnovers as a midfielder.

He was a USILA All-America honorable mention his junior year and was named to the All-CAA second team as well as the All-CAA Tournament team.
